AUDUBON FIRE DEPARTMENT



10-24-09 504 Walnut St. - Fatal Vehicle vs. Dwelling

Audubon Crews along with Mt. Ephraim’s Rescue Company were dispatched to 504 Walnut Street at 3 A.M. for a reported car into the house. Crews arrived to find a vehicle that slammed into the side of the dwelling with an occupant still inside the vehicle. EMS made patient contact to determine the victim to be D.O.A.   Crews gained access into the dwelling to find a partial collapse of the 1st floor.  Cherry Hill Rescue Company was called to shore the structure.  The vehicle left the roadway and traveled across 2 lawns, struck a parked car before slamming into the dwelling.  The occupants of the dwelling were not injured.  Crews remained on location well into the morning to remove the vehicle and shore the dwelling.  The Audubon Police Department has the accident under investigation. 

   

 

 



5-28-08 AUDUBON - 51 Kings Highway  All Hands Building

At  5:30 am, a building fire was dispatched in Audubon at 51 E. Kings Highway.  Upon arrival crews reported smoke showing from the Toscano Pizzeria.  Crews led off with a 1 ¾” hand line as the Ladder crew opened up and set up ground ladders.  Crews located the source of the smoke to be from a fire located in the basement.    The all hands was struck on arrival with a special call of an additional Engine Company.  No injuries were reported on the fire ground.  The Camden County Fire Marshals have the fire under investigation.

 

 



4-16-08 208 Edgewood Ave- All Hands Dwelling

 

At 5:30 AM, a dwelling was reported in Audubon at 208 Edgewood Ave.  Police arrived on location and reported a working fire.  Command arrived on location and reported a 1 ½ single family dwelling with heavy fire showing from Division C, striking the all hands. Companies arrived and placed a 1 ¾” hand line in operation as ground ladders were thrown. Searches were performed with negative results.  The fire was placed under control at the 30 minute mark. 

 

   



3-22-08  AUDUBON  188 Carisle Ave-  All Hands Dwelling

911 received a call from the resident at 188 Carlisle Rd. reporting the house was on fire.  First arriving units found heavy fire conditions upon arrival.  Command struck the all hands on arrival and reported a 1 ½” single family wood frame dwelling with heavy fire showing.  Initial reports were received of possible people trapped however Police confirmed all occupants were accounted for.   Crews entered the dwelling for an interior attack but were forced out around the 10 minute mark due to heavy fire conditions.   Companies placed several hand lines in operation as well as the Quint’s master stream. Crews remained in defensive operations as the fire was brought under control shortly after the 1 hour mark at 3:47. No injuries were reported on the fire ground.

 

   

 

   



1-14-07 136 White Horse Pike- 2nd Alarm Building

 

Around midnight on January 14, 2007 Audubon units were dispatched for an alarm at the Weber’s Diner at 136 White Horse Pike.  Police arrived on location and reported heavy fire showing. Command from Audubon, (110) arrived and reported heavy fire from the roof area of a 40x50 diner.  The all hands was struck on arrival.   Crews went in operation was handlines to find heavy fire conditions on the roof.   A special call was made to Oaklyn for the Ladder Company.Command struck the 2nd alarm shortly into the job.  Crews extinguished the blaze on the roof, opened up, as well as checked the kitchen area for extension.  The diner was not open at the time of the blaze. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshals Office.

 

   

 

 



12-6-06 564 Graisbury Ave - All Hands

 

Audubon Taskforce was dispatched for a reported dwelling fire at 564 Graisbury Ave On December 6th, 2006 around 7:00pm.  Audubon command arrived on location and reported a 1 1/2 story single family dwelling with heavy fire showing from Division C.  Command struck the all hands.Crews arrived and went in service with a 1.75” handline.  The 2nd due Engine secured a water supply and stretched a backup line.  Crews located heavy fire conditions in the kitchen.  The evacuation tones were sounded after the bulk of the fire was knocked down as accountability was taken.  Crews then re-entered the structure and checked for extension.  One firefighter was transported to an area hospital for a minor shoulder injury.  The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshals Office. 

 

   



3-16-06 524 Graisbury Ave - 2nd Alarm Dwelling

Around 215 p.m. on March 16, Audubon Taskforce was dispatched for a report of a dwelling fire at 524 Graisbury Avenue. Initial reports indicated a kitchen fire. Police arrived to find heavy fire showing. Command arrived and reported a 1.5-story, 25X40, with heavy fire from the C division, and requested the all hands.  Crews led off with a 2.5-inch handline. Shortly afterward the second alarm was sounded. A firefighter was injured while battling the blaze but refused transport. A special call was made for an engine out of Camden City. Crews had the fire knocked down and under control in about an hour. The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal's Office.

   

 

 



11-12-05   201 Yale Rd.  All Hands

Westmont's Engine 1513(covering the out of service Audubon for a Funeral) and Oaklyn's Ladder 1834 were dispatched for a reported dwelling fire in Audubon. Oaklyn's Chief arrived to find a 1 1/2 story dwelling with medium to heavy smoke showing. Command reported heavy fire on the first floor and struck the all hands. Engine 1513 led off with 1 1 3/4 handline. Haddon Heights and Mt. Ephraim units were added as well. No injuries were reported.

   



09-02-05  201 Carlisle Rd.  2nd alarm

A dwelling fire was reported around at 201 Carlisle Rd. County Radio reported smoke from the basement. Units arrived to find find smoke coming from the chimney. Haddon Heights Engine 213 arrived and went in service with 1 1 3/4 handline. At the 20 minute mark the all hands was requested. Shortly after the 2nd alarm was sounded. Crews contained the fire to the basement without extension. No firefighter injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshals.
