5-4-07 1 Commerce Drive - 3rd Alarm Building

On Friday May, 4, 2007, Barrington crews were dispatched to 1 Commerce Drive at Camden International, for an alarm system.  First arriving units arrived to find smoke showing from a large warehouse.Command reported a working fire in the warehouse and requested the full box be struck.  Crews forced entry into the building to find heavy smoke throughout.  Crews stretched multiple hand lines to find pallets approx. 24 foot high on fire. At the 10 minute mark Command reported 2 lines in operation and making good progress on the fire. At the 20 minute mark, Command requested the 2nd alarm be sounded for manpower, as crews were setting up 3 more lines to be placed in operation.Four truck companies were placed in operation as crews vented the roof.  Command requested the 3rd alarm be transmitted. One firefighter was transported from the fire scene to a near by hospital for non serious conditions.  Command ordered the evacuation tones be transmitted pulling all manpower out of the building due to conditions worsening.  Around the 2 hour mark, Command reported all visible fire was knocked down with companies remaining on location for extensive overhaul.
