9-16-07 Collingswood Circle- Vehicle Fire
On September 16, 2007 at 4:30 p.m, Engine 1613 and BLS 1647 were dispatched for a vehicle fire at the Collingswood Circle in front of the Collingswood Diner. 1647 arrived and reported a vehicle on fire in the parking lot. Engine 1613 arrived and went in operation with a 1 ¾” hand line.No injuries were reported.

8-25-07 White Horse Pike @ Collings Ave - Vehicle fire
Engine 1613 and BLS 1647 were dispatched to the area of White Horse Pike and Collings Ave for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle heavy involved. The Engine Company went in operation with a 1 ¾” hand line to extinguish the blaze. The fire was being fueled by a ruptured fuel tank.Witnesses stated the vehicle ran over a man hole cover and started the catch fire.No injuries were reported.

8-16-07 M& E Marine- 3rd Alarm Building
On Thursday August 16, 2007, at 0405 hours, Task Force 16 (Station 16-1 & Engine 15-1) was dispatched to the area of M & E Marine behind the gas station for a reported building fire. Camden County Communications reported a cab driver who was driving in the area saw smoke coming from the building. Police arrived on location and advised Central there was heavy smoke coming from the building. Chief 1601 signed on and advised all responding units not to enter the building due to its structural condition and operate in exterior operations only as planned by the Department prior to the call. The all hands was also requested. At 4:11 am Engine 1613 arrived and reported a working fire in the warehouse.Chief 1601 arrived and reported a vacant warehouse 50x75 with heavy smoke and fire showing. Engine 1613 went in operation with forcing the front door and setting up the blitz fire. Ladder 1614 and Ladder 1514 both set up for master stream operations upon arrival. At the 20 minute mark, Command reported 2 2 1/2” hand lines in operation with Ladder crews setting up. Command reported a heavy condition in the building through the roof. At the 30 minute mark the 2nd Alarm was sounded. Additional Engines were special called above the 2nd alarm as water supply was an issue due to poor water pressure in the area. Rt. 130 was shut down as supply line was layed out to the Collingswood Circle. At the 40 minute mark, Command reported 2 master streams in operation along with 2 2 ½” hand lines with the fire continuing to spread. At the 50 minute mark, Command reported 4 master streams operating with heavy fire throughout the entire warehouse. Crews were also reporting exterior walls collapsing. Additional Engines were called for water supply.At 05:36 hours the fire was placed under control with all hands still operating with master streams.The last company took up from the job at 4:23 p.m. The building was vacant for some time prior to the fire and scheduled for demolition in the near future. The fire did not extend to the other 2 buildings located at the site. No injuries were reported on the fire ground. The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshals Office, Collingswood Police Department and the Collingswood Fire Department.

6-07 Traning (C Platoon)
After 21 years of service, Collingswood’s support vehicle 1617 was retired. The 1986 Astro Van became victim of old age and was forced into retirement. The vehicle was brought to the training grounds in Collingswood where it served as training exercise. The C platoon stabilized the vehicle on its side, cut a hole in its roof and removed the windshield. The vehicle was flipped back over as each door was removed from the vehicle.

4-24-07 Conger Ave - All Hands Dwelling (Photos by Bill Reiger)
Task Force 16 was dispatched for a dwelling on Conger Ave. Police arrived and confirmed a working basement fire. Engine 1601 arrived and reported a 2 story middle of the row with smoke showing. Command struck the all hands on arrival. Engine 1613 arrived and went in operation with a 1.75" handline while Engine 1512 established a water supply. Vent. and Searches were performed as the fire was contained to the room or origin in the basement. No injuries were reported.

On a rainy Sunday afternoon, Task Force 16 (District 16 and Engine 1512) was dispatched to a reported dwelling fire in the 300 block of Sloan Avenue in Collingswood. Engine 1613 responded under the command of Lieutenant Ed Glaze and upon arrival, had heavy smoke and fire visible from the attic area of a 2 1/2 story dwelling. Engine 1512 responded under the command of Station Captain John Young. Upon arrival of Chief Frank Saia (16101) he confirmed the report and transmitted the "All-Hands" signal bringing Ladder 514 (Gloucester City) as FAST, Ladder 1514 as an additional Truck Company, MASK Services 1145 (Pennsauken Station 4) and the Camden County ISAT Team. Upon arrival of 1512, the crew advanced forward to stretch additional handlines. The engine took the hydrant at the corner of Magill and Champion Avenues and supplied 1613. Ladder 1514 responded under the command of Ladder Captain Bill Tessing and upon arrival, staged Division A. Crews made a quick knockdown of the fire in the attic and found little extension on the second floor. Crews operated for over and hour completing salvage and overhaul before companies were made available. The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshals Office.

3-21-07 101 W. Browning Rd- Vehicle
On March 21, 2007, around 1 am, Engine 1613 and BLS 1647 were dispatched to 101 W. Browning Road for a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, Engine 1613 reported a vehicle with heavy fire showing from the engine compartment. 1613 went in operation with a 1.75” handline to extinguish the blaze. The Camden County Fire Marshals were called the scene to perform the investigation.

2-18-07 - Mt. Ephraim Ave - Police Officer Struck by Passing Vehicle
At 9pm, the Collingswood Police Department was operating at a routine vehicle stop on Mt. Ephraim Ave. While Officer Taulane was standing outside the Police vehicle he was struck by a passing vehicle. The vehicle reportedly crossed over both lanes, struck Officer Taulane from behind, then crashed into the Police Unit. Collingswood BLS 1647 was called to transport the injured officer to the hospital.

2-17-07 - Collingswood Circle- Vehicle in a Ditch
At 2 am, Collingswood Police, Engine 1613 and BLS 1647 were dispatched to the Collingswood Circle for a car down a ditch. Police arrived and found a jeep that left the roadway, was crossing through the middle of the circle, before it traveled down a ditch. The driver was not injured in the crash.

2-10-07 Park - Dayton Ave's - M.V.A
Engine 1613, Ambulance 1647 and Police were dispatched to Park and Dayton on February 10, 2007 around 4 p.m. Crews arrived to find a 2 car accident with no injuries. It was reported that one of the vehicles involved, stopped at the stop sign then preceded through, colliding with the other vehicle in a T Bone Fashion. Both vehicles had to be towed due to the heavy damage.

2-5-07 - 100 Block Of Fern Ave - Police Chase - Crash
Around 5am on February 5, 2007 the Collingswood Police were involved in a chase that came to a crashing end. Police started the chase in Woodlynne involved a stolen vehicle.
The pursuit came to and end as the driver lost control in the 100 block of Fern Ave when he left the roadway and crashed into a tree.Police dealt with the driver as Engine 1613 and BLS 1647 were called to the scene to secure the vehicle and clean up the fluids on the roadway.

2-2-07 -213 New Jersey Ave - All Hands Dwelling (Photos by Bob Chester)
Around 4:15 pm Task Force 16 (Collingswood Station, Westmont Engine) was dispatched for a dwelling fire at 213 New Jersey Ave. Chief Amet arrived on location and reported a 3 story dwelling with heavy smoke showing from the 3rd floor. The all hands was transmitted signaling a working fire. Engine 1613 arrived, secured a water supply and went in operation with a 1 3/4” hand line. The Engine Company found heavy fire conditions in the attic area. Engine 1512 arrived and backed up the initial crew. Ladder 1614 arrived and set up ground ladders and assisted 1613’s crew on the fire attack. Rescue 1615 set up covers on the 2nd floor to prevent water damage to the residence belongings throughout the house. The fire was contained to the attic area. No firefighter injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshals.

1-23-07 Route 130 -Vehicle Fire
Engine 1613 and Squad 1647 were dispatched to Route 130 in the area of South Park Drive for a Vehicle Fire. Police arrived used a dry chemical extinguisher to extinguish the small fire under the hood. Engine 1613 arrived and secured the power to the vehicle and used a pressured water extinguisher to extinguish wires burning.

1-21-07 Route 130 - Black Horse Pike - M.V.A
Engine 1613 and Squad 1647 were dispatched to Route 130 and the Black Horse Pike in Haddon Township for a Motor Vehicle Accident. Upon arrival crews found a 2 car, T Bone type accident, with major damage to both vehicles. EMS went in operation treating the injured civilians. A Camden City Ambulance was also called due to 2 civilians being injured. Both patients were treated and transported to a near by hospital.
