7-30-06 43 Hunters Glen Apartments - 4th Alarm (pics and Story by Greg Taylor)

On July 30th 2006 at approx 1525Hrs Delran Stations 232 and 231, Ladder 2025 along with EMS were dispatched to building 43 at The Hunters Glen Apartments located at 3001 Route 130.  Officer from Station 202 reported a heavy column in the air and Command 2300 arrived to report a 2 story garden style apartment complex with heavy fire showing from the D side 1st and 2nd floors and extending to the rest of the building.  First due units arrived and went into operation with Master Streams and Ladder devices. This was done due to the heavy fire condition on the interior of the building.  Command then requested the 2nd alarm to be struck due to the fire making headway on interior crews in the exposure attempting to stop the fire spread.  Ladder 2415 operated on the roof and cut several holes to try to contain the fire.  Shortly after command requested the 3rd alarm for additional manpower and also for additional EMS units due to the extreme heat.  Numerous firefighters had to be treated for heat exhaustion at the scene and some were transported to be evaluated.  Crews operated on the interior of the bravo exposures and hooked ceilings and walls to prevent any further fire spread.  The fire did go to a 4th Alarm with numerous surrounding communities covering and operating at the scene.  The fire was placed under control at approx 1800hrs.  No civilians were reported injured at the scene.
