9-1-06 FDNY Funeral for FF Michael Reilly in Ramsey NJ

Ramsey,NJ-  Thousands of FDNY firefighters, as well as firefighters from around the country came together as one on Friday September 1, 2006 in Ramsey NJ to show their respect for a brother firefighter, Michael Reilly who was killed in the line of duty  a week before.

Reilly just graduated the FDNY academy 2 months ago before loosing his life in a 3rd alarm blaze at 1575 Walton when a floor gave way.  Five firefighters were trapped when the floor gave way.  FF Reily and Lt. Howard Carpluk Jr. did not make it out.  Reilly died at the age of 25.

Reilly started his fire service career at the young age of 16 when we became a junior member in the Ramsey Fire Dept.

Reilly was also a Sergeant in the Marince Corps Reserve. His duty was firefighting and pilot rescue.

The service was held at the St. Paul R.C. Church on Wyckoff Ave in Ramsey New Jersey.  Firefighters lined the street streatching out over a mile to show their respects for the fallen brother who always dreamed of being a FDNY firefighter.
