12-16-07  146 New Jersey- 3 dwellings involved

At 301 a dwelling fire was dispatched in Fortescue at 164 New Jersey.  Companies arrived to find a 2 story dwelling with heavy fire conditions.  While companies were pulling lines the fire was extending to exposures powered by 20 mile per hour winds.  Command reported 2 dwellings were fully involved and fire spreading to a 3^rd.  Companies gained entry into the 3^rd and went in operations with hand lines.  Companies made and interior attack on the 3^rd dwelling as master streams were set up for the 1^st two dwellings.  Multiple mutual aid companies were called in for tanker operations.  Fortescue’s Chief reported 2 dwellings were a total loss while the 3^rd had major fire damage. The Chief reported the high winds powered the fire and caused it to extend quickly.  The fire was placed under control 2 hours into the job.The owners were not home in the dwelling which the fire started in.No injuries were reported on the fire ground.
