4-6-09 700 Readin Ave- 3rd Alarm Warehouse

 

On April 6th, 2009 at 11:40 p.m. Hammonton crews were dispatched for a reported building fire at 700 Reading Ave in Atlantic County.  Upon arrival command reported a 150x50 warehouse with heavy fire showing.  Companies began arriving and setting up for Defensive Operations.  Command reported the building to be heavily involved as Special calls were being made for Tanker Task Force operations. Crews went in to operation with multiple 2 ˝” hand lines and Ladder Pipes.  Command struck a 2nd and 3rd alarm for additional manpower and Tankers to help bring the fire under control.  Mutual Aid tankers were called from Camden and Gloucester Counties.  The building consisted of a pool manufacturing plant which produced fiberglass pools.  No injuries were reported on the fire ground. 

 

   

 

   



5-30-08  HAMMONTON - 582 S. Egg Harbor Rd. 5th Alarm Building

 Hammonton Fire Units were dispatched for a reported building fire at 582 S. Egg Harbor Rd. at 11:45 p.m. First arriving units encountered heavy fire conditions showing from a 1 story large commercial building at Universal Supply. Command arrived and confirmed fire through the roof the building with exposure problems.  Command began striking additional alarms for water supply.  Crews began setting up for defensive operations setting up Master Stream operations.  The Tanker Task Force was activated as additional units were being called into the scene.  Command stated he was using the maximum water pressure possible without depleting the town of its water supply.  Mutual Aid tankers were called from Camden, Gloucester, Cape May and Burlington Counties.  The fire reached 5 alarms before being brought under control.  Command stated the building was a wood shop which had a huge impact on fire load.  No injuries were reported on the fire ground.  The fire is under investigation at this time.
