10-13-06 12 W. Jefferson St. - 3rd Alarm Dwelling.

Firefighters were alerted around 3:30 p.m. on October 13, for a report of a fire at 12 W. Jefferson St. The first-arriving engine led off with a handline to find heavy fire conditions on the first floor. Personel reported that they could hear the fire making progress above them at that time. Command then ordered two more handlines placed into service. On the exterior, crews were venting the roof as ground ladders were set up. Command soon reported that the fire had spread to all levels of the dwelling. Crews operated inside for approximately 45 minutes before command sounded the emergency evacuation signal. Switching to a defensive operation, master streams were set up and placed into operation. The blaze reached three alarms as extensive mutual aid companies were called to the scene. The fire was placed under control at the 90-minute mark. No injuries were reported on the fireground. The fire is under investigation at this time.
