07-21-08  STRATFORD-  912 White Horse Pike  All Hands Building

A box was transmitted in Stratford for a report of a building fire at the South Jersey Pretzel located at  912 White Horse Pike around 9:30 p.m.  Companies arrived on location and reported a 1 story commercial with a fire in the roof area above the drop ceiling.  Companies stretched a 1 ¾” hand line as the Truck Company went to the roof.  Companies extinguished the fire located in the ceiling area with minor damage to the business.  The fire was placed under control at 9:55 pm with no injuries to firefighters.  The Camden County Fire Marshals Office has the fire under investigation.

   



12-6-07 White Horse Pike- School Bus vs. Building

 

At 10 am on December 6, 2007, Stratford units were dispatched for a M.V.A on the White Horse Pike and New Road in the shopping center. Companies arrived to find an occupied school bus into a support column of a store.  The bus was occupied by 30 students from Camden County schools traveling to the Goodwill Industries which gives job training to handicapped and disabled high school students.  Multiple ambulances were called in to transport students who sustained minor injuries.  The Rescue Company from Cherry Hill was called along with several other rescues to shore the building as the bus knocked off the support column.  The bus driver stated he was making a turn near the building when he lost control on the ice. 

 

   



11-28-05 4 Columbia Ave - All Hands Dwelling Fire

STRATFORD - Stratford firefighters were dispatched for a report of a dwelling fire. Command arrived to find a 2-story dwelling with heavy smoke showing. The all hands was struck immediately upon arrival.First-due units led off with an inch-and-three-quarter handline to find heavy fire conditions on the first floor. Crews made an aggressive interior attack to find that the fire had extended to the second floor. A second and then a third handline was placed into service.Arriving ladder companies went into service, performing vertical ventilation. Command made multiple special calls; which brought to the scene Stratford, Laurel Springs, Magnolia, Hi Nella, Lindenwold, and Somerdale fire departments. Cherry Hill Rehab assisted firefighters on scene.Though the homeowners were not home at the time of the blaze, the American Red Cross was on scene to provide assistance to them, due to the extent of damage to their residence.The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshal's Office. No firefighter injuries were reported.

   



02-07-05 24 W. Temple - Confined Space Rescue

First arriving units found an elderly woman approx. 8 - 10 ft. down in a cesspool hole in the rear of the dwelling. Gloucester Twp. and Runnemede's Technical Rescue Co's were called to assist Stratford's Rescue. Crews worked to free the occupants around a 1 hr. mark.
