3-19-07 Next to 423 White Horse Pike - Building Fire
At 2323 hours on March 19, 2007, a Waterford Township Police Officer called in a building fire next to the car wash located at 423 White Horse Pike. The full alarm box was transmitted minutes later. County Radio advised units PD had heavy fire showing with a tanker located a couple feet from the rear of the building. Waterford Command arrived and reported a 1 ˝ story, 40x50 wood frame building, with heavy smoke and fire showing. The all hands was sounded on arrival. At the 10 minute mark, Command reported they had two 2” handlines in operation as the fire remained doubtful. At the 20 minute mark the bulk of the fire was knocked down with two 2” handlines in operations as well as a 1.75” handline. Command reported crews to be making good progress at that time. The tanker in the rear of the property was reported to be empty at the time of the fire. The building had been vacant for some time. Police called for the crime lab to assist in investigation of the fire. The fire was placed under control at 0012 hours. No firefighter injuries were reported on the fireground. The Camden County Fire Marshals are investigating the fire at this time.
