12-9-09 Woodlynne - Cypress Ave's- Vehicle in Water

The South Jersey region received heavy rain which flooded out many streets. Police and Fire crews from Collingswood were called to Cypress and Woodlynne Ave’s  in Woodlynne for a vehicle stuck in water.  Crews arrived to find the vehicle stuck in the flooded street with no occupants inside.  There was also no one on location that would take credit for driving the vehicle into the water.

   



4-3-09 Mt. Ephraim Ave & Woodlynne Ave - Vehicle

 

Engine 1732(Woodlynne) and Engine 1613 (Collingswood) were dispatched to Mt. Ephraim Ave and Woodlynne Ave for a vehicle fire in Woodlynne on April 4th 2009 at 1:45 p.m.  Companies arrived to find a vehicle with an engine compartment fire.  Engine 1613 led off with a 1 ¾” hand line to knock down the fire.  No injuries were reported on the fire ground. 

 

 

 

   



 1-17-09 300 blk of Chestnut St. - Vehicle Fire

 

Woodlynne’s Engine Company was dispatched for a vehicle fire in the 300 block of Chestnut St. at 1:15 p.m.  Police arrived and reported a vehicle heavily involved.  Moments later the airbag exploded and started to catch the lawn on fire from the burning debris.  The grass was extinguished by Police.  Engine 1733 and Camden City’s Engine 10 arrived and stretched a 1 ¾” hand line to extinguish the blaze.  No injuries were reported. 

   

 

 



10-31-08 Woodlynne-Ferry Ave - Fatal M.V.A

 

A MVA Rescue Box was transmitted in Woodlynne  at Ferry Ave and Mt. Ephraim Ave at 11:38 p.m.  Station 17-3(Woodlynne)Rescue 16-1 and BLS 1647(Collingswood) and BLS from Camden City were dispatched to the scene.  Police arrived on location and reported one occupant trapped and another ejected with a vehicle sideways into a building. Camden BLS arrived and was able to free the occupant who was unconscious.  The occupant was transported to the Trauma Center and later pronounced  Collingswood BLS treated and transported the other occupant who self extricated from the vehicle. The building suffered heavy damage from the vehicle crashing through the side.  The County Crash Team was called to the scene.  The Collingswood Police Department has the crash under investigation. 

 

   



6-6-08 WOODLYNNE - 108 Cedar Ave  Chimney Collapse

Engines from Woodlynne and Camden City were dispatched to 108 Cedar Ave in Woodlynne for an investigation.  Battalion 1 from Camden City arrived and confirmed a chimney had fallen off a house and onto a parked vehicle.  Collingswood’s Ladder was special called to the scene to check the stability of the roof.  No injuries were reported.  The owner stated she had just walked in from outside and heard a crash outside.

 

 



10-18-07 Woodlynne Firehouse- Car vs Building

 

At 9 a.m, the Collingswood Police notified Central Dispatch that a vehicle had drove into the Woodlynne Firehouse on Cooper Street.The 21 year old intoxicated driver was able to make it out of the vehicle with minor injuries.The SUV smashed through the bay door and struck the Engine and pushed it back about 2 feet.  The force of the impact knocked the Officer’s air pack right out of the bracket.  No tire marks were found which indicated he never tried to stop prior to the crash.  The driver from Camden City was seen stopped at Woodlynne Ave and Chestnut talking to someone.  He then gunned the SUV and drove straight through the firehouse door.  Police stated he was charged for driving while intoxicated and was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.  No firefighters were hurt during the crash but 1 Woodlynne firefighter said “We got lucky, we usually sit on the Engine’s bumper in the morning and drink out coffee.”

On Saturday June 9th,  Station 17-3(Woodlynne) and Station 16-1 (Collingswood) were dispatched to the park in Woodlynne for a gazebo.   Engine 1732 arrived and reported a gazebo on fire, and stretched a line.  Engine 1613 arrived and went in operation with a 1 ¾ “ hand line to extinguish the fire.

 

   



4-9-07 105 Chestnut - All Hands Dwelling (story and photos by Greg Taylor)

Camden County NJ, Woodlynne NJ – April 9th 2007 at approx 0315 Hrs Woodlynne (Station 17-3), and Collingswood (Station 16-1) Firefighters were dispatched to 105 Chestnut Avenue for a reported dwelling fire. Collingswood PD arrived to report a 2 story dwelling with the 2nd floor well involved. Engine 1613 arrived and confirmed that they had a 2 story SFD with heavy fire showing from Side 2 and Side 3 2nd floor. Companies operated with 3 - 1 ¾ Handlines. Rescue 15-1 (Westmont) was assigned as the RIT team and Mask Services 11-4 (Pennsauken) as the Cascade. Command requested and Additional Engine Company to assist at the scene. This brought Engine 15-12 (Westmont). Crews operated for approx 1 Hour and 30 Mins before placing the fire under control. No injuries were reported at the scene. The fire is under investigation by the Camden County Fire Marshalls Office.

   

 

   



10-25-06  317 Elm Ave - Dwelling

Station 17-3 (Woodlynne) and Station 16-1 (Collinswood) were dispatched to 317 Elm at in Woodlynne around 2:30 p.m. for a dwelling fire on October 25, 2006. Engine 1613 secured a water supply and layed in.  Command reported nothing showing. 1613's command reported fire in the wall on the 2nd floor.  Crews went in operation with the booster line.  Ladder 16-1 arrived and assisted 1613's crew. Fire was contained to the location of origin and placed under control.Units on location were Engine 1613, Ladder 1614, Chief 1601, and BLS 1788.



8-7-06 115 Cedar Ave - 2nd Alarm Dwelling (Story and Photos by Greg Taylor)

The Morning of August 7, 2006 at approx. 0300hrs Station 17-3 - Woodlynne Fire Department,  Station 16-1 - Collingswood Fire Department, BLS 17-88 and ALS 43 were dispatched to 115 Cedar Avenue for a reported Dwelling fire with people trapped.  Reports that all occupants were out and that PD was onlocation reported a dwelling heavily involved in fire near the rear of the home.  Collingswood 16-01 arrived and reported a 3 story Balloon Frame Dwelling with fire showing and requested the all hands.  Collingswood Engine 16-13 was first due and layed supply line into the fire and operated with 2 handlines.  Crews battled numerous different void spaces and had trouble accessing the 3rd floor.  Command requested the 2nd alarm shortly after arriving which brought Oaklyn 18-3, Quint 1-1 and Engine 15-2 to the scene.  Westmont Rescue 15-1 responded as the RIT company.  A special call was placed for the Camden County I S A T team to respond and assist in the command structure.  Mask Services 11-4 was also dispatched to the scene.  Within 1 hr the fire was placed under control.  An addional call for relief manpower was made and Engine 15-12 was called to the scene from the cover at Station 17-3.  It was reported that 1 firefighter with an unknown injury was transported to a local hospital, but they are in good condition. 

   



2004 Rt. 130 Northbound - Overturned M.V.A

A vehicle traveling southbound on Rt. 130 lost control at a high rate of speed.  The vehicle struck a pole, several parked cars in the dealership lot, flipped and came to rest against a telephone pole.  The driver was able to escape from the vehicle.  He was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.
